Tuscany is the region of a thousand flavours, able to enchant every tourist. Among the protagonists of the culinary tradition, there is undoubtedly the truffle, what the Latins called Tuber.

The Values of the Tuscan Territory

In order to promote and enhance this enogastronomic heritage, the National Association of Truffle Cities was born, which has several associated villages such as: Arcidosso.

Arcidosso, a delightful village of Monte Amiata in our Maremma with an ancient food and wine culture that has its roots in the late Middle Ages.

Gardens, vineyards, olive groves, orchards: the territory has always been rich in quality products that, today, attract a considerable flow of tourists and curious people.

In autumn, Arcidosso becomes a paradise for lovers of fruits of the forest, such as chestnuts, mushrooms and truffles.

The Tuscan Truffle

When the word ‘Maremma’ is pronounced, it reminds you immediately to a good glass of wine, a taste of extra virgin olive oil, of its cheeses, of botargo. But there are other typical products that distinguish this area for its goodness and generosity: we are talking about truffles and mushrooms in Castiglione della Pescaia.

Among the most important types of truffle in the area that you can collect is the so-called ‘bianchetto’, also called ‘marzuolo’. It is possible to find it in the hinterland of the province of Grosseto or in the pinewoods of the Maremma coast.

There are different types of truffles in Tuscany. Each species matures in a specific period of the year: in autumn there is the white truffle; in winter the black truffle and the brumale; in winter and spring the marzuolo truffle; in summer and autumn the scorzone truffle and the uncinato.
