The values of the Tuscan region

The National Association of Truffle Cities was set up to promote and enhance this fine food heritage. In Tuscany, there are many villages that are part of the association, including: Arcidosso.

Arcidosso, a delightful village on Monte Amiata in Maremma with a long-standing food and wine culture that dates back to the late Middle Ages.

Vegetable gardens, vineyards, olive groves, orchards: the region has always been rich in quality products that, today, attract a considerable flow of tourists and inquisitive onlookers.

In autumn, Arcidosso becomes a paradise for fans of woodland fare, such as chestnuts, mushrooms and truffles.

The Tuscan Truffle

When you hear the word ‘Maremma’, it immediately conjures up an image of a good glass of wine, extra virgin olive oil, cheeses, and bottarga, but there are other typical products that set this area apart for their flavour and abundance. We are talking about the truffles and mushrooms in Castiglione della Pescaia.

The so-called ‘bianchetto’ or ‘marzuolo’ truffle is one of the most important types that can be found in the area. It can be found in the inland parts of the province of Grosseto or in the pine woods of the Maremma coast.

There are different types of truffles in Tuscany. Each species ripens in a specific period of the year: the white truffle in autumn; the black truffle and Muscat truffle in winter; the marzuolo truffle in winter and spring; the burgundy truffle and uncinato truffle in summer and autumn.
