We can experience a wine tasting weekend in Tuscany by following the 20 Wine Routes, ready to take us to iconic villages and places such as Chianti, Montepulciano, Carmignano, Montespertoli, Massa Marittima, Colli di Candia, Versilia, San Gimignano, Cortona, Montalbano, Val d’Orcia, Colline Pisane, Costa degli Etruschi, Arezzo, Lunigiana, Monte Amiata, Lucca.

During the wine tasting weekend in Tuscany we will have the opportunity to taste some of the best red, white and rosé wines in the region: from Colli di Luni DOC to the wines of the Val di Chiana, from Chianti to Candia dei Colli Apuani DOP, from Vino Nobile di Montepulciano to Brunello di Montalcino, from Chianti Colli Fiorentini DOCG wines to those of the Colline Lucchesi and Morellino of Scansano.

A wine-tasting holiday in Tuscany takes us to famous vineyards and cellars where discover fine labels paired with quality dishes. Here are the most famous and unmissable wine cellars: Ecco le cantine più famose ed imperdibili:

  • Petra Winery in Suvureto: located in Val di Cornia, Petra enchants for its perfect integration with nature and for its ability to merge past, present and future. The structure is designed by architect Mario Botta. Among the wines made are: Petra, Hebo, Alto, Quercegobbe, Potenti, Colle al fico;
  • Cantina Antinori in San Casciano Val di Pesa: inaugurated in 2012, the new structure bears witness to the Antinori family’s historic bond with the territory. It is built with local materials and full respect for an environment where wines have been produced for 26 generations. Among the most important labels are Solaia Toscana IGT, Tignanello Toscana IGT, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Vie Cave Toscana IGT, Aleatico Sovana DOC Superiore;
  • Cantina di Montalcino in Montalcino: founded in 1970 by a small group of winegrowers, the winery is today a reference point in the sector, perfectly integrated with the natural environment, with vineyards spread over four quadrants capable of producing wines of absolute quality. Labels include Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino DOC and 4Q Riserva;
  • Cantina Colle Massari in Cinigiano: the structure appears as a modern cage characterised by white concrete beams and pillars ready to nestle above the body basement. Located at the foot of Monte Amiata in Cinigiano, it was completed in 2003 according to the dictates of bio-architecture. The organisation of winemaking is on several levels and gives life to products such as Melaccio, Irisse, Grottolo, Rigoleto, Poggio Lombrone;
  • Fattoria delle Ripalte in Capoliveri: perfectly placed in the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, the winery is on the Island of Elba. The colours of the Mediterranean maquis and tall pines are the setting for a winery that includes Aleatico Passito dell’Elba, Rosato di Aleatico, brut sparkling rosé, Bianco delle Ripalte, Rosso delle Ripalte, Bianco del Mediterraneo, Rosso del Mediterraneo;
  • Podere di Pomaio in Arezzo: an eco-cellar respectful of the surrounding landscape and built with natural materials and geothermal systems. A bio architecture project with an Etruscan-inspired amphitheatre. Among the most beautiful wine cellars in the region, it boasts wines such as Porsenna, Chianti DOCG, Chianti Origini, Clante, Pomaio Origini, Rosantico;
  • Tenuta Argentiera in Onoratico: located in the southernmost part of the village of Castagneto Carducci, with eighty-five hectares of vineyards divided into four wine-growing areas and a few steps from the sea. The wines include Argentiera Bolgheri DOC Superiore, Ventaglio Toscana IGT, Villa Donoratico Bolgheri DOC Rosso, Scenario Bolgheri DOC Bianco, Poggio ai Ginepri Toscana IGT, I Pianali Toscana IGT Rosato;
  • Tenuta Ammiraglia in Magliano: the winery is located in the heart of Maremma, near the of the sea. The structure takes shape from a project by Nathalie Grenon and Piero Sartogo. The result is a signature winery, modern in design, respectful of the environment in which it is fits into. It produces wines such as Aurea Gran Rosè, Alìe, Terre More, Masso Vivo, Santa Maria;
  • Rocca di Frassinello in Gavorrano: a perfect example of a modern winery, it was designed by Renzo Piano and is characterised by futuristic architecture. Inside we admire the exhibition The Etruscans and Wine at Rocca di Frassinello and visit the museum adjacent to the barrique cellar. The pavilion is the location for tastings. We discover wines such as Baffo Nero, Le Sughere, Rocca di Frassinello, Ornello, Poggio alla Guardia, Vermentino;
  • Cantina Salcheto in Montepulciano: founded in 1984 as a multi-crop farm, today Salcheto is a modern winery where 60 hectares of organic vineyards are worked. The philosophy follows the dictates of systemic sustainability. The winery was inaugurated in 2011, with a green soul and capable of producing excellent wines such as Salco, Nobile Vecchie Viti del Salco, Riserva, Nobile, Obvius Giallo Oro, Chianti Biskero, Tempo with Michel Gondry;
  • Cantina Caiarossa in Riparbella: the small medieval village of Riparbella, in the hills near the sea, is home to a winery founded in 1988 and respectful of the principles of biodynamic agriculture biodynamics, geodynamics and the oriental discipline of Feng Shui. About 70 hectares with 11 different varieties give life to wines such as Caiarossa Bianco, Pergolaia, Aria di Caiarossa, Caiarossa;
  • Il Borro in San Giustino Valdarno: a village with a thousand-year history is surrounded by 1,100 organic hectares where Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot are grown. Among the wines include Il Borro, Il Borro Chardonnay, Alessandro dal Borro, Petruna in anfora, Polissena, Pian di Nova, Borrigiano, Bolle di Borro;
  • Cantina di Fonterutoli in Castellina in Chianti: owned by the Mazzei family since
    1435, the castle of Fonterutoli is the heart of a wine estate with 117 vineyards capable of represent an extraordinary diversity. Among the wines produced are Castello Fonterutoli – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Ser Lapo – Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, Siepi – Toscana IGT, Fonterutoli – Chianti Classico DOCG, Concerto di Fonterutoli – Toscana IGT, Philip – Toscana IGT, Poggio alla Badiola – Toscana IGT, Mix 36 – Toscana IGT.
